At the Anchor Shack we offer virtually every level of scuba instruction from Skin Diver all the way through IDC Staff Scuba Instructor, all from our on-site pool for your convenience to practice your new skills. Our standard classes include Skin Diver, Scuba Diver, Open Water Scuba Diver, Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Instructor ratings. We also teach most Speciality Courses. The Anchor Shack offers custom courses that can accommodate virtually anyone's schedule including 2 day certifications and weekend classes. Some factors to consider in choosing a dive training facility: Though the bottom line ($$$) is important, consider what you are getting for your money. The experience of the instructor staff and the qualifications they hold. Is the certifying agency PADI (the world's largest and most recognized) or some other? Does the store have it's own pool available at any time. Some stores don't. They have to use a public pool and only at specific (not so convenient) times? Can you use the store's pool and diving equipment at no extra charge for practice both during and after your certification? How long has the store been in business (will they be around for a while)? Now cost - What will everything cost to get certified, books, required equipment, rental gear, and other costs (staying in Monterey, and travel)?
