Your AM 91 is now broadcasting in the new high quality digital format. HD Radio™ technology is the most revolutionary advance in radio since 1919, when Frank Conrad, a Westinghouse engineer, founded radio broadcasting in a small, red brick garage behind his home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. iBiquity Digital Corporation has created the technology that allows AM and FM radio broadcasting to enter the 21st century. The FCC approved digital broadcast system for the U.S., offering radio listeners radically upgraded audio quality, on-demand interactive experiences, and compelling new wireless data services. AM 91 is on the leading edge of this new technology. AM 91 "The Point" began digital transmissions February 27, 2004 using the HD Radio™ systems. AM 91 is broadcasting the same music and program material in both analog and digital modes. This new HD Radio™ technology permits the simultaneous transmission of analog and digital signals within a single AM or FM channel. It allows digital operations for all existing broadcasters with no new spectrum allocation requirements. Today's radios will pickup the analog broadcast while the new HD Radio™ receivers will pickup both the analog and digital signals on the AM and FM bands.
