Always Reading Caravan Association Information

Always reading Caravan (ARC) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, and non-religious organisation based in Suphanburi province Thailand, committed to promoting joy of reading and learning through various activities including mobile library services to children both with and without disabilities in rural areas of the country. The organisation was founded in Jan. 2010 by Yoshimi Horiuchi, and currently conducts activities in two areas: Oothong District, Suphanburi Province, and Phrao District, Chiangmai Province. ARC's mission is to promote reading for pleasure, provide equal reading opportunities for children from various backgrounds, and encourage children with and without disabilities to mingle with one another and remove the mental barrier between them. ARC has 2 community libraries in Thailand, and a mobile library in the north of Thailand, which visits schools around the district and people who find it difficult to come to the library for various health and disability reasons. ARC also has 3 early childhood centres in the mountainous regions of northern Thailand, where hill tribe children from the age of 2 years attend, to teach basic Thai language skills and English, in preparation for their move to school. A new initiative has been created known as Move Lanna, which is dedicated to connecting small rural projects and NGOs in Chiang Mai province, with volunteers from around the world. We have projects in education, medical care, community development and organisational development.
