Alps provides level 3 reports and training to:SchoolsCollegesAcademiesLocal authoritiesGroups of schools / consortiaKevin ConwayKevin ConwayWe are able to provide report and training projects for new schools and colleges and groups based on best practice. Alps was developed by Dr. Kevin Conway CBE when he was principal of Greenhead Sixth Form College Huddersfield. Through the analysis and systems that Kevin developed, Greenhead College rose from an average performing college to one of the top colleges in the country with a string of awards. We are about giving the practical tools to enable real performance improvement for individual students, based on identifying within individual schools and colleges areas of strengths and weakness on which to work. Crucially we can provide follow up training for staff on what systems can help to build these improvements. We are a student centred organisation, with a deep philosophy that runs through our reports and training, that every student is an individual, an exception and to be valued. At Alps we feel uniquely placed to help both senior management and teaching staff in schools and colleges with level 3 students who study A levels, AS levels and BTEC National courses. Our coverage is growing each year as staff in schools and colleges and local authorities recognise the reports as key to their school or college's internal review process and for use for strategic planning and commissioning. Our A level reports in 2013 covered over 70% of A levels taken in that year. The reports are rigorous but easy to use and understand. However, what really sets us apart is the follow up training packages we can offer schools and colleges individually or collectively, at local authority, regional or national levels, to effectively embed the systems that can really help improvement. Alps is extremely effective in professional development work in-house. Equally it can be powerful in Ofsted inspections as an antidote to raw results. Its usefulness has been well recognised by bodies such as the Department of Education, Ofsted, Local Authorities and the Sixth Form Colleges Forum. Although we are in a period of significant changes in education policy, the crucial role of the head/principal of schools and colleges to continually monitor and improve performance remains a key focus. It can be argued that there is a heightened need for schools and colleges to communicate simply their own results in a proper value-added context.
