Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Information

The Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) is a non profit making organization whose core business is staging agricultural exhibitions and trade fairs. *Shows and Exhibitions* The Society currently stages 15 shows : international, national and regional shows in various locations countrywide. *Kenya Farmers Journal* Established in 1953 to collect data and general information relating to the objectives of the Society and publish the same from time to time. The Journal currently produces 5 editions per year with a nationwide circulation. *Young Farmers clubs of Kenya (YFCK)* The Young Farmers Clubs of Kenya was formed in 1948 and largely sponsored by Sir Alex Ward. Its objective was to prepare young people to be effective future farmers and membership is for Secondary schools students,Technical schools and Institutes, Teachers Training Colleges, Youth Polytechnics and Universities. Activities of YFCK movement include Tree Planting, National Rally, National Camps and Exchange Programme with United Kingdom. Plans are underway to commence Exchange Programmes with Australia and Canada. *Kenya Ploughing Organization (KPO)* The Kenya Ploughing Organization was established in 1966 under the auspices of the Agricultural Society of Kenya. The main objective of KPO is to organize National Ploughing Contests in which champion ploughmen compete and demonstrate their skills in preparation of good seed –bed and at the same time serve as an educative forum for farmers. The winners go to the international contests hosted by the World Ploughing Organisation (WPO). Kenya hosted the World Ploughing Contest in November 1995 at Ngongongeri Farm, Egerton University, Njoro. *Kenya Livestock Breeders Organisation* An annual event established in 1921
