Afroradio Information

Afroradio is a non-profit social enterprise which seeks to promote dialogue, integration and mutual understanding between the immigrants and the host Irish communities across Ireland. This, we do through music, interviews, discussions, talk shows, news and current affairs, especially as concerns people, issues and places that are normally ignored by the mainstream media. Our media project targets a mixed local, national and global audience. Our core objective is to promote dialogue in diversity as it is believed that cross-cultural communication is a requisite for genuine integration and mutual understanding. We recruit and train volunteers on a regular basis to become presenters, news readers, anchores, script writers, etc, or just to work behind the scenes handling cameras, directing shows, helping in fund-raising or administrative support. In recognition of its impact on the communities, Afroradio received the Outstanding Community Service Award by the Edmund Rice (International) Heritage Centre in Waterford Our website/webcasts feature topical discussions and magazine programmes presented, not only in Queen's English, but also in 'Pidgin English' as well as French and some native world languages. Our talk shows are aimed at enriching ourselves, galvanising a paradigm approach to self actualisation, cultural integration and mutual understanding between us and our host communities.
