ABOUT US The African Girl Foundation is a Kenyan organisation aimed at preventing under privileged Kenyan school girls from dropping out due to a lack of sanitary pads. THE CURRENT SITUATION Over 65% of Kenyan school girls cannot afford a sanitary pad as a basic necessity and are forced to drop out of school altogether. THE CHALLENGES - High levels of corruption prevent funding and allocated resources from reaching needy Kenyan school girls. - Low income levels (<US$ 1.25 per day). - The high cost of disposable sanitary pads. - Lack of education on menstruation as a bodily function. OUR IMPACT - School girls no longer suffer from embarrassment and low self esteem. - A reduction in school drop out rates by up to 60%. - Underage pregnancies reduce. - A rapid decline in HIV infections levels. OUR INITIATIVE To provide Kenyan school girls with re-usable sanitary kits that last for over 1 year free of cost. ACTION To raise US$100,000 to help keep 5000 Kenyan girls in school in 2016. Join us in our "#KeepOurGirlsInSchool" Initiative
