Academic Express has been delivering Workplace Essential Skills Training to employers in Central Alberta since 2012. Training is provided in the following areas: Numeracy - make calculations, take measurements, budgeting/accounting activities, make estimations Workplace reading - understanding materials written in sentences or paragraphs (letters, manuals) Document use - read signs, labels, use graphs or charts, create or read schematic drawings Working with Others - work as a member of a team, participate in supervisory or leadership activities Communication in the workplace - resolve conflicts, lead discussions, provide or obtain information Writing - write to organize and record information Problem Solving - identify and resolve problems, make decisions, use critical thinking Computer Use - use different forms of technology, use word processing software, email, spreadsheets Continuous Learning - participate in an ongoing process of improving skills and knowledge The Canada-Alberta Job Grant can help fund Workplace Essential Skills training for new and/or current employees by reimbursing up to 2/3 of training costs.
