City Year helps students and schools succeed, while preparing the next generation of leaders. City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school. Schools that partner with City Year are up to two to three times more likely to improve in English and math assessments, and the more time students spend with AmeriCorps members, the more they improve on skills that help students thrive in school and contribute to their community.
A proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network, City Year is supported by AmeriCorps, local school districts and private philanthropy. City Year partners with public schools in 29 communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and South Africa.
In 1937, the organization that has become Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Inc. (JALA) was born when a group of Jacksonville Bar attorneys banded together to provide legal services to those who could not otherwise afford them. In 1973, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid was officially named, and in 1976 JALA achieved 501(c)3 status.
Today, JALA is a law firm of 40 attorneys specializing in providing civil legal assistance to low-income persons.
For more than 60 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida has been creating Great Futures for kids and teens across our community. What began in 1962 as the Boys’ Club of Jacksonville has grown into one of the region’s most impactful youth development organizations.
Today, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida operates 59 Clubs across five counties: Alachua, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns. These include 13 community-based Clubs, 40 school-based sites, and 6 park locations. Together, they provide safe, supportive spaces where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.
Our Clubs have more than 18,000 registered members and reach an additional 53,855 youth through community outreach. From academic enrichment to leadership development, sports, the arts, and healthy lifestyle programs, our goal is to ensure every child who walks through our doors has the tools and encouragement to reach their full potential.
Our mission is clear: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Our vision is just as bold: to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors. That means all members are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
With the support of our community, Great Futures truly start here.
