The mission of Coffee House Press is to publish exciting, vital, and enduring authors of our time; to delight and inspire readers; to contribute to the cultural life of our community; and to enrich our literary heritage. Melville House is an independent book publisher based in Brooklyn and London. Founded by Dennis Johnson and Valerie Merians in 2001, Melville House has published political reportage, avant-garde fiction, titles in translation, poetry, and cookbooks. The list includes the Art of the Novella series, the Neversink Library, and the Melville House International Crime series.

Our books, online magazine, and writing program embrace writers, creators, students, and audiences who fearlessly shake up our assumptions and biases; and who believe in the power of storytelling.
