Zimmer Real Estate Services was recognized recently by Kansas City Commercial Real Estate Women (KC CREW) during its annual Impact Awards ceremony. Zimmer's nomination for the award was based on its long-standing commitment and impact to the Kansas City community. During the past year, Zimmer's work included marketing CenterPoint Intermodal Center-Kansas City, which is being developed on the site of the former Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, and the successful marketing of office space at Union Station Kansas City. During 2010, Zimmer's leasing team secured leases for more than 70,000 square feet of space at Union Station, providing the iconic building with a revenue stream not seen since its renovation in the late 1990s. Other former projects mentioned as examples of Zimmer's continual impact on the area were the Village West development in Wyandotte County, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and the Sprint World Headquarters Campus. Zimmer continues to serve as master developer and owner's representative for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, for Village West and is currently overseeing the development of Livestrong Sporting Park, which will be the new home of Sporting Kansas City, the local Major League Soccer franchise. The Sporting Park was recognized at the event as the Project of the Year award winner. Above, Zimmer's John Hassler, Vern Walters, Dan Musser, Hugh J. Zimmer, John Green, Troy Nash, Mike Gillaspie, David J. Zimmer, Jennifer Gach, Kirk Sherman, and Ellen Darling were all on hand for the KC CREW Awards. I am especially proud of our team and what we were able to accomplish at Union Station and do our part to help this historic building remain an iconic and active piece of Kansas City and its future. The Village West project began in 1997 and continues to be one of the most exciting developments in our metropolitan area - really, has been and continues to be a fantastic project to be a part of. Also recognized at the Impact Awards was Julie A. Headley of Thellman Financial Corporation. Headley was the recipient of the Member of the Year award. This award recognizes a member who has demonstrated her commitment to the organization and the Kansas City area through her volunteerism and service within KC CREW and the entire community.
