Zero Waste Ithaca Information

Zero Waste Ithaca (ZWI) is a grassroots volunteer group dedicated to advancing zero waste policies and culture in Ithaca, New York. Founded in 2018, ZWI prioritizes waste prevention through reduction and reuse while raising awareness of the full lifecycle impacts of plastics, including pollution, contamination, and the public health risks of toxic chemicals. Through education and advocacy, we support the transition to genuine zero waste policies and empower Ithaca-area residents to take action. ZWI actively opposes false solutions that perpetuate waste, pollution, and corporate greenwashing, advocating instead for systemic change rooted in sustainability, environmental justice, and community resilience.
