Founded in 2016, Zero Stray Pawject is a 501(c)(3) U.S. nonprofit and German e.V., and it is an advocacy, education and soon, veterinary organization with its main purpose to prevent and reduce stray populations. Its mission is to “intervene before a dog or cat ends up stray or homeless”. The focus is currently on Greece as Greece has become a pilot for testing new proof-of-concepts before scaling. Zero Stray Pawject builds capacity in municipalities and partners with municipalities as a joint-delivery and operational implementation partner. The organization works at national and local levels, translating policy into execution through a nationwide academy program “Zero Stray Academy” that promotes consistent delivery. Zero Stray Pawject is a small, fast-growing, international team bringing together expertise in public health, strategy and management consulting, economics, research, law, veterinary affairs, and animal welfare from Europe and the United States.
