Zero Embolus is focused on advancing safer extracorporeal care by reducing gaseous microemboli during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), ECMO, NRP, EVP, and related blood-circulating therapies. To do so, we connect and collaborate with perfusionists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, transplant teams, researchers, and industry partners. Despite decades of progress in cardiac surgery and critical care, invisible gas microemboli remain an under-addressed contributor to neurologic injury, organ dysfunction, systemic inflammation, and represent an avoidable threat to patient outcomes. Emerging innovations in nitrogen-free oxygenation present a meaningful opportunity to improve outcomes—but adoption pathways remain fragmented. Zero Embolus exists to help bridge that gap. Our work is focused on accelerating responsible clinical adoption through strategic partnerships, translational research, training and education, and ecosystem-building across healthcare institutions, academic partners, clinicians, and mission-aligned supporters. We pursue innovations in gas management, extracorporeal circuit design, monitoring, and nitrogen-free oxygenation. Our goal is to reduce the burden of gaseous microemboli across extracorporeal therapies and help improve neurological, cardiovascular, and organ-specific outcomes through collaborative innovation and evidence-based implementation. We believe impactful healthcare innovation requires more than invention alone. It requires trusted collaboration, rigorous validation, thoughtful stewardship, and practical pathways to implementation. Zero Embolus is being developed as a platform to help catalyze those conditions in service of safer patient care.
