Yellow's purpose is to make life better for our customers. 99% of households in rural Malawi live without electricity, and rely on expensive candles and distant power supplies to charge their phones. Yellow's team has built a new way to market, sell and retain customers in a rural African context. We sell pay-as-you-go solar home systems to customers at prices which our rural Malawian customer base can afford. Our customers spend what the same amount as they did before on lighting and charging, but now get 16x more light, and 3x more phone charges, all in the convenience of their own home. Our innovative distribution allows for sustainable profits at these affordable prices, and provides line of sight to making meaningful change in Malawi. We aim to increase rural electrification in Malawi by 500% by the end of 2022.
