San Eng, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, leads X with a team of successful entrepreneurs, investors, operators and brand lovers. Widely known in China as the “Entrepreneurial PE Guy,” San also founded SMC Capital China in 2008. As its CIO and sole Managing Partner, San built SMC to a Top 50 private equity firm in China by 2013, according to Zero2IPO. Prior to SMC, San was the CEO of a fast-growing US$60 million venture-backed firm where he led a 150-person team in USA and China and guided its IPO process. An investor and entrepreneur for 25+ years, San has invested US$400+ million in dozens of consumer and technology firms. He has actively helped these portfolio firms to achieve IPO (such as China’s largest Internet infrastructure firm, 21Vianet) and become industry leaders (such as China’s largest equine business, Rider Horse and China’s largest desserts and snacks chain, VIMIU.) Another of X's Managing Partners is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded and led one of the first NASDAQ listed Chinese firms to exceed US billion dollar in market capitalization.
