The WV Ethics Commission was created in 1989 to implement and enforce a code of ethical conduct enacted by the Legislature for public servants. (WV Code 6B-1-1,et seq.) In 1999 the Ethics Commission was also given the responsibility of issuing advisory opinions on the Open Governmental Meetings Law (WV Code 6-9A-1 through 12). The Commission consists of twelve members appointed to five year terms by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
