World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 Information

Held every three years and sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Family, the World Meeting of Families is the world’s largest Catholic gathering of families. The congress will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from September 22, to September 25, 2015, featuring renowned theologian speakers, a dynamic youth congress, and hundreds of exhibitors. The event will be paired with exciting family activities throughout the city, including once-in-a-lifetime museum exhibits, a film festival, and many more interactive experiences. Beginning with 1994, The Year of the Family, the Pontifical Council for the Family has been responsible for organizing the World Meetings of Families in Rome (1994); Rio de Janeiro (1997); Rome (2000); Manila (2003); Valencia (2006); Mexico City (2009); Milan (2012); and now, Philadelphia (2015). Each World Meeting of Families has a theme that energizes and enlivens the event while adding great depth of meaning to the understanding of families. The theme of the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” emphasizing the impact of the love and life of families in society. The World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 will close on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, with a visit from Pope Francis expected to attract more than 2 million people from across the world to the City of Brotherly Love.
