WorkSafeMT Information

Our vision - A social revolution that leads workers and workplaces to higher levels of safety and security from injury, illness, and death. Mission: The purpose of WorkSafeMT when it was formed in 2007 was to inspire a culture of safety and health, at work and away from work; encourage effective, engaged stay at work/return to work programs during periods of healing; promote a culture of zero tolerance for workplace injuries across the United States. Our successes: 1) WorkSafeMT developed the highly successful SafetyFestMT conferences. Through the on-going efforts of the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, these high quality safety training programs continue more than a decade later. http://www.safetyfestmt.com 2) Stay at Work/Return to Work. WorkSafeMT was instrumental in identifying the SAW/RTW issues in Montana, creating information and forms for distribution to Montana residents and employers and successfully advocating for legislation to require that workers' compensation insurer's provide SAW/RTW assistance to injured workers when requested. 3) Hugely successful media blitz on television, radio and social media; Public Service Announcements and ads that began the process of social change towards one where injuries in the workplace and away from work are not acceptable. 4) Governor ( D ) eliminated funding for the public / private partnership. Efforts to keep the safety message continues by private volunteers.
