The Working Cities Challenge Initiative is funded through the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The Working Cities Lowell Initiative is a collective impact collaborative focused on community development and promoting economic growth in the Acre neighborhood of Lowell, MA. The action plan for the Working Cities Lowell Initiative will focus on three high level factors that will alleviate multi-generational poverty in the Acre: low educational attainment, lack of employment opportunities and family sustaining wages, and the complex issues of diversity and inclusion. The WCC Lowell Initiative will simultaneously improve the educational opportunities of low-income children and the employment opportunities of their parents so that the whole family is provided with the tools they need to achieve economic sustainability.
