Women's Economic Development Agency Information

The mission of Women's Economic Development Agency (WEDA) is to assist women and other minorities in achieving economic independence through a holistic approach to business development and wealth building that encompasses classroom training, technical assistance, mentoring and access to pertinent resources. Since 2002, WEDA has served more than 15,000 individuals and has helped to facilitate the formation of 1,339 small businesses that generate annual revenues ranging from as little as $8,000 to more than $1 million a year; have created 252 net new jobs (total created versus total lost, not including the business owners); and have accessed more than $8.5 million in commercial funding – much of it in the form of SBA-guaranteed microloans of less than $50,000 per business. WEDA is a bi-lingual (English / Spanish) non-profit organization that has traditionally served the twenty-eight county Atlanta, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. However, through the advent of a distance-learning component in January 2009, WEDA now serves individuals across the U.S.
