Women in Sport Aotearoa, Ngā Wāhine Hākinakina o Aotearoa, exists to transform society through leadership, research and advocacy, ensuring that all women and girls gain equity of opportunity to participate, compete and build careers in sport. Following New Zealand's successful hosting bid, Women in Sport Aotearoa is also now the delivery agent for the International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport Secretariat and Conference 2018-22. This includes administrative responsibility for the world’s largest network of experts on gender equity in sport and recreation, responsibility for nearly 600 signatories to the Brighton + Helsinki Declaration on Women and Sport, plus partnerships with agencies like UN Women and UNESCO. In 2022, WISPA will stage the 8th IWG World Conference in Auckland, which will attract 1,500+ delegates to Auckland to discuss strategy for the future.
