Phoenix Fan Fusion (formerly Phoenix Cactus Comicon) is an annual comic book convention held in Phoenix, Arizona. Started in June 2002, Phoenix Fan Fusion hosts comic related panels, programming events, art contests, parties, vendor halls, and autograph signings for all ages.
The first Phoenix Cactus Comicon was held in June 2002. It was a one day only convention for six hours held in Ahwatukee, Arizona. Admission was $3 per person and there were 432 attendees, along with a few local creators and exhibitors. In 2015, the convention was held at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and had 75,501 attendees.
Originally showcasing comic books, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, anime, manga, animation, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels.
Phoenix Comicon also produces Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest: our winter convention held in Glendale, Arizona. Fan Fest allows us to return to our roots and concentrate on comic books, actors, costuming and kids activities.
The SAN DIEGO COMIC CONVENTION (Comic-Con International) is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation organized for charitable purposes and dedicated to creating the general public’s awareness of and appreciation for comics and related popular art forms, including participation in and support of public presentations, conventions, exhibits, museums and other public outreach activities which celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.
Comic-Con International: Started as a one-day “minicon” in 1970. The success of the minicon led to the first full-fledged, three-day San Diego Comic-Con (called San Diego’s Golden State Comic-Con) at the U.S. Grant Hotel. Over 300 attendees packed into the hotel’s basement for that groundbreaking event, which featured a dealers’ room, programs and panels, film screenings, and more: essentially, the model for every comic book convention to follow. The show's main home in the 1970s was the El Cortez Hotel. In 1979, Comic-Con moved to the Convention and Performing Arts Center, staying there until 1991, when the San Diego Convention Center opened.
With attendance topping 130,000 in recent years, the event has grown to include satellite locations, hotels, and outdoor parks. Programming events, games, anime, Independent Film Festival, and the Eisner Awards all take place outside of the Convention Center, creating a campus-type feel for the convention throughout downtown San Diego.
WonderCon: Aspects of that show, including comics, movies, TV, animation, the Masquerade, and more. The event has grown in all aspects over the years: more attendees, more exhibitors, more programming, and more fun.
WonderCon was started in 1987 in Oakland. Comic-Con International took over the show in 2002 moving it from Oakland to San Francisco in 2003. After 15 years as a Bay Area event, WonderCon was forced to move to Anaheim in 2012 (construction at the Moscone Center) and has been held in southern California since.
We utilize trail tape or zip ties to mark items as 'safe' and inspected. Once we have tagged your item, you are not permitted to remove it. We do our best to ensure that the trail tape can be easily hidden for photos. For items that go into sheaths, we will use zip ties, provided that it will not damage the sheath. Can my prop weapon be confiscated? In the event you bring a prop that is deemed unsafe for the show, you have the option of returning it to your car/home or we will confiscate your item. Your item may be picked up at the end of the day at the Info Booth on WSCC Level 4 between the hours of 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Any items that are not picked up by Sunday at 6:00 PM will be discarded. What does ECCC think of bootlegs? We don't like them! The buying and selling of counterfeit/knock-off/unlicensed materials is not tolerated at Emerald City Comic Con. ECCC is a celebration of the best of popular culture and bootlegs have no place in the show. Violation of this rule will result in one and only one warning. A second violation and you'll be removed from the show. Can minors attend ECCC unsupervised? All minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. Can you watch my kids? Sorry, Emerald City Comic Con does not provide child care services on site. And truthfully, we're probably not the most qualified people to have babysit your kids. What should I do if my child, family or I get separated? Find an ECCC staff member or security guard and we will help you locate your missing party member. We strongly recommend that when you arrive at ECCC, you and your party pick a location to meet in case anyone does get lost (psst..outside one of our Info Booths is an excellent choice).
