WCATY focuses on developing the academic talents of such children. Our programs offer an oasis for positive learning experiences-a place where their talents are nourished and their full potential can be developed. Our students learn to be proud of their abilities, andthis motivates them to explore the boundless possibilities of their curiosity, passion for learning, and intelligence. In WCATY programs, students find themselves in a supportive peer environment that allays their fears of being different. Tuition and membership fees cover only about one-third of the cost of WCATY programs. Generous contributors provide the rest. It's as if every student since the very beginning has received a "hidden scholarship" to attend WCATY programs. The WCATY Kid Acorn Fund was established in 2002 with donations from WCATY alumni, current students, and "honorary WCATY kids" who wanted to share some of their spending money to help make sure that WCATY will always be here-helping provide the "hidden scholarships" for WCATY kids of the future. The Fund will be held by the Madison Community Foundation as a growth endowment. All earned income and contributions will be kept in the Fund until it has grown to $10,000. Then, a portion of the earned income from the Fund will help underwrite WCATY programs every year and the balance, along with new contributions, will be put back into the Fund to help it grow.
