Winter Festival of Lights Information

The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) is Canada's most iconic lighting festival taking place in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Festival’s 37th annual season will run nightly from November 16, 2019 to January 12, 2020 with illuminations on from 5:00 PM to midnight. Marvel at over three million lights along an eight kilometre illumination route which travels down Clifton Hill, through the Niagara Parks, past the mighty waterfalls then into Dufferin Islands and the surrounding tourist districts. The Festival is completely free and has been a winter tradition for over one million visitors annually! Voluntary donations are graciously accepted by Ambassadors at Dufferin Islands and used for lighting maintenance. The 2019 Winter Festival of Lights will feature an awe-inspiring assortment of mesmerizing and engaging light displays. Popular interactive exhibits will return, including illuminated see-saws (Impulse), an 84’ long tunnel of lights (Passage) and more! Over ten magnificent Light Art creations from international artists will also be on display. Enjoy stunning audio-visual experiences which transform buildings with immersive sound & light shows on the Toronto Power Generating Station and the Oakes Hotel. Head to Dufferin Islands to catch a glimpse of the life-sized Canadian Wildlife displays including three-dimensional animals such as Moose, Polar Bears, a Bison, Deer, Wolves, Geese & a Woolly Mammoth! The beautiful Dufferin Islands nature area also features more than fifty trees wrapped in lights, popular animated displays, an illuminated fountain on the water, Inukshuks, and the massive Sylma display. The OPG Winter Festival of Lights offers a variety of special events including: Opening Ceremonies, the Fallsview Sound & Light Show, weekly firework displays, the Sparkle Lighting Awards and the Niagara Falls New Year’s Eve Concert.
