Channeling their combined expertise and knowledge in wine packaging, the members of Wine Packagers of Australia expanded their membership last year to include WineWorks NZ. Accordingly, a name change to Wine Packagers of Australia & New Zealand (WPANZ) is appropriate Members meet quarterly to discuss • manufacturing capability issues, • innovations in packaging and packaging equipment, • legal compliance issues, • supplier performance, and related industry changes With an accumulated 162 years in the contract packaging industry, their knowledge of wine packaging is unparalleled. How does WPANZ help the wine industry? The Association believes everyone in the wine supply chain plays an equally important role in bringing collective knowledge and expertise to the table to drive change. Technical forums • The introduction of their technical Forums in 2015 has provided a collaborative platform for suppliers, manufacturers, designers and members to address technical issues, information gaps, and technology developments across the Australian and New Zealand wine industries. In November 2019, WineWorks co-hosted New Zealand’s first Wine Packagers Forum on 28 November. The half-day event was a huge success with over 120 participants. www.SizeMeUp.com.au – label dimension calculator • An industry first and funded by members, SizeMeUp is a web-based visual aid and guide to calculate label dimensions that fit the bottle of choice. The site contains over 70 of the top 750ml and small format wine bottle SKUs in Australia and New Zealand. This is a free site and is mobile and tablet friendly in English and Mandarin.
