Wilson Acoustics Limited (WAL) is the largest acoustic consultancy firm in Hong Kong specialized in noise and vibration control for railway system for both operation and construction stages. WAL is the cutting edge consultant at railway dynamics, tunnel construction noise control and railway station PA design. In addition to railway projects in Hong Kong, WAL is currently working on railway projects Taiwan, Malaysia and China. Our clients include MTRCL, Delkor Rail, Eiffage Rail, Getzner Werkstoffe, Toyo Engineering, and major tunnel contractors (Marubeni, Leighton, Gammon, Nishimatsu, Penta-Ocean, Maeda, Chun Wo,etc.). WAL invests large demand of resources to develop latest Railway Noise Control technique. The R&D team invented and patented the Multi-Directional Tuned-Mass Damper (MDTMD) for railway noise control, which has been installed at two operational sites in Hong Kong. The damper is distinguished in reducing both vertical and lateral rail vibrations by single oscillation mass, such characteristic enable the damper to provide exceptional high damping at rail vibration and suppresses corrugation growth & noise radiation in long-term measurement. The remarkable performance of the damper is listed as follows: - Suppression in corrugation growth rate by 45% - Track side noise reduction by ~4dB(A) - Saloon noise reduction by ~3dB(A) - Rail vibration reduction from 8 to 10dB(A) Up to date, it is the only damper all over the world that could suppress rail corrugation growth.
