The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) was established in 2002 to develop a sustainable property industry in Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions.
To drive the transition of the Australian property industry towards:
-Sustainability - by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations
-Integration - of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings.
To achieve these objectives, the GBCA runs the Green Star environmental rating system, education and advocacy efforts in sustainable building practices, and events on the national and international levels.
The Australian Institute of Architects is the peak body for the architectural profession, representing over 14,000 members across Australia and overseas. The Institute actively works to improve the quality of our built environment by promoting quality, responsible and sustainable design.
