In 1896 Henry Wiers traveled to what is now Celeryville, Ohio in order to purchase 5 acres of swampy and poorly drained land. Henry along with others, used draining techniques from the Netherlands to make the land farmable. The drainage of this swampy land revealed rich organic soil called "muck" that is ideal for growing many types of vegetables. The Wiers Family now grows over 45 varieties of vegetables in Ohio and Florida. In the 1970's, the 4th generation of the Wiers family saw the benefits of having control over the transportation of their produce. They founded Dutch Maid Logistics with the purchase of 8 trucks and 10 trailers. Today, Wiers Farm controls production from the point at which seed is delivered using their own greenhouses, land, packinghouses, coolers, and relying on Dutch Maid Logistics for transportation. Wiers Farm continues to grow and provide the best and freshest produce as well as maintain its position as a leader in Food Safety practices. With production in Ohio and Florida, Wiers Farm is able to provide solutions to your produce needs year round.
