Whyte & Mackay was founded on the docks of Glasgow in 1844 by James Whyte and Charles Mackay, who had a mission to create a truly Scottish blended whisky. This partnership laid the foundations for the company’s continued growth over the next century, with the company now producing and distributing some of the most highly-awarded and respected whisky and spirit brands. The multi-award winning portfolio includes its flagship Whyte & Mackay Blended Whisky, The Dalmore Highland Single Malt, Jura Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Tamnavulin, Fettercairn, Glayva Liqueur, and Mackinlay’s, and distributes Flor de Caña, Ungava, Camus and RumChata in the UK. At the heart of the company is a passion to create unique products that have craftsmanship, provenance, innovation and quality at the core. In 2017 Whyte & Mackay’s Master Distiller Richard Paterson celebrated 50 years in the whisky industry having begun his illustrious career at Whyte & Mackay at the age of just 26. Richard has been responsible for creating some of the world’s most iconic whiskies such as The Dalmore Trinitas, the Mackinlay’s Shackleton blend and of course Whyte & Mackay Blended Scotch, demonstrating the company’s focus on new product development. Whyte & Mackay Ltd operates in the heart of Glasgow where they have been for over 170 years. The company employs over 550 people across the country, and owns 5 distilleries and a state of the art bottling plant. It is the fifth largest Scotch whisky manufacturer in the world, with its products distributed in over 50 countries. Today Whyte & Mackay is owned by Phillipines based Emperador Inc.
