For more than 25 years, Why Not Prosper has helped women impacted by incarceration rebuild their lives, reconnect with their families, and create pathways toward lasting stability and economic self-sufficiency. Founded by a formerly incarcerated woman, Why Not Prosper places lived experience at the center of its approach. What began as a community-based response to the challenges women face when returning home from incarceration has grown into an established reentry organization providing comprehensive support to women throughout Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania. Why Not Prosper provides a continuum of support that includes pre-release mentoring, residential services through Why Not Prosper House, and community-based programs and resources through our Philadelphia Resource Center. Our work helps women secure safe and stable housing, prepare for and retain employment, strengthen job and life skills, access behavioral health and recovery resources, reconnect with their children and families, navigate community resources, and build the personal and financial stability necessary for long-term success.
