Early 2010, a family of 5 decided to run a family operated food and beverage business with one goal in mind, making Specialty Coffee accessible to the local communities. The family had zero experience in operating a cafe, everything was self-learned through reading and trial and error. Baking to coffee making and planning business operations were all adopted through running the cafe themselves for 5 months. The idea was to embed an operating culture within the company before bringing in employees, a culture that would bring the team closer together like a family. Cakes and macarons were all handmade from the family’s home kitchen, they would start baking goods after the shop closes to ensure that they get fresh goods for the following day. Whisk was the first cafe that serves Specialty Coffee and fresh home-baked goods within the confines of shopping malls in Klang Valley. Slightly over a year later, our second outlet at 1 Utama launched and today, we are at our 5th outlet. We strive to grow and build a platform for people to talk and learn about coffee by raising the awareness of Specialty Coffee.
