WEST MILFORD TOWNSHIP FIRST AID SQUAD Information

The West Milford Township First Aid Squad is a non-profit organization of more than 60 volunteers. We provide emergency first aid and ambulance services to West Milford, New Jersey 24 hours a day, seven days a week all year long. Occasionally we assist the surrounding towns when their squads are unavailable. Our crews stand by at local sporting events and public gatherings. We are trained to provide field first aid at mass casualty incidents and were on hand on 9/11/2001. Our squad has the distinction of being the first squad in the State of New Jersey certified to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs). All members are required to be State certified EMT-B's. At our main building we have crutches, wheelchairs and other items to loan out for short-term use. Classes for certification in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillation) are conducted regularly in our meeting room. On the third Sunday of every month the main building is used for a blood drive. Hours are from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Thousands of pints of life-saving blood have been collected. The Township of West Milford encompasses 80.4 square miles in the highlands of north-central New Jersey and includes more than 5 square miles of reservoirs, lakes and ponds. The reservoirs serve the city of Newark and are surrounded by extensive, undeveloped watershed areas. The area also includes almost 45,000 acres of State land including Abram S. Hewitt , Waywayanda, Long Pond Iron Works , and Norvin Green State Parks and several Green-Acres preserves. You can find us here.
