West Mall is committed to developing young officials so they can play a key role in the future of minor hockey with West Mall and our affiliates NYHL and GTHL. If you are interested in becoming an official with West mall, you must:Be 14 years of age as of December 31. Attend a Hockey Canada Officiating program (HCOP) clinic and obtain your level 1 certification. (Clinics are hosted by NYHL, GTHL and MHL - info is available at www.gthl.com.)Apply for a position through the Referee-in-Chief via e-mail officials@westmalllightning.comPass an evaluation process based on skating ability, rulebook knowledge, and 'feel for the game'West Mall maintains a limited roster of officials which means there are few new positions each year. New officials are typically recruited from within the West Mall organization and have previous timekeeping experience. We are always looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to become officials and timekeepers. ALL ON-ICE OFFICIALS MUST BE CERTIFIED BY HOCKEY CANADA!
