Welsh Netball is committed to growing the sport at all levels, including grass roots. We are in the process of moving from a structure of having Netball Development Officers (NDOs) working in specific local authorities across Wales to a new partnership with Sport Wales, where the development team are covering all eight Area Associations - and therefore all 22 unitary authorities. Development Officers are already in place in Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, North East Wales, North West Wales and West Wales. We are in the process of recruiting replacements for staff in the remaining three regions: Glamorgan Valleys, Powys and South East Wales. We expect this process to be complete and a full complement of eight NDOs up and running by November/December. This will be the second element in our 'Eight x Four' strategy for our eight Areas. This means we are aiming, by January 2013, to have four key components across all eight Areas: High Performance Hubs Workforce Leads (NDOs) Area Forums Local Authority Partnerships The Hubs are in place and are evolving. We expect them to develop with the introduction in September 2012 of the new Performance Pathway. The Area Forums are up and running in Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & The Vale and South East Wales. The two Areas in the North are having their first Forum meetings in October 2012. Plans for the other Areas will follow shortly. The final element in the 'Eight x Four' plan supported by Sport Wales is to partner with as many Unitary Authorities as possible. Netball features on more Local Authority partnership agreements (LAPAs) than ever before and we are working very hard, through our NDOs, to develop stronger links with our local authority partners. In Autumn 2012 Welsh Netball is replacing its systems for membership, coach and umpire education and club accreditation.
