Hello and welcome to Unity Training, a Hull based training company who deliver training in First Aid, Food Safety and Health and Safety. We have fully qualified and DBS checked trainers who deliver a range of short courses. All our training courses are flexible to fit client needs. We aim for each and every one of our clients to unlock their potential, through our first class training service. Our staff are committed to providing the highest level of support, advice and guidance to each client. We work with Unity in Community with whom we run a range of events and have links with other groups within the Hull area. We work with Hull College, Green Port Hull, She Knows, Jobcentre Plus, local employers, the local council and schools to deliver courses that react to the needs of clients and their local area. We ensure all our clients and staff are able to be and feel safe.
Changemakers was founded in 1994 by a coalition of educationalists and NGOs and was an early champion of young people leading their own social action and change. Since that time, more than 100,000 young people have participated in our programmes and hundreds of organisations have adopted our approach. We have worked across a number of UK regions and currently have offices in London, Newcastle (where we have been based since 2004) and Birmingham (where we have been based since 2008). Over the past decade, we have influenced many of the key developments in education and youth policy. This has included the introduction of citizenship and enterprise education; the creation of youth volunteering initiatives such as the youth volunteering body 'v', Millennium Volunteers, and the Russell Commission on the future of youth volunteering; and enshrining our youth leadership methodology in national policies for young people, including 'Aiming High', the previous government's strategy for positive activities for young people, and 'The Youth of Today', the previous government's National Body for Youth Leadership. Supporting the development of young leaders has always been at the heart of what we do. In 2000 we launched our flagship youth leadership development programme, which is still going strong today. Our work has given young people the opportunity to put their leadership skills into practice. For example, in 2004, we launched Y SPEAK, the country's biggest ever youth led grants scheme, which in part lead to the government's introduction of the Youth Opportunity and Capital Funds, placing young people in control of local authority youth budgets. Since then we have taken this youth led methodology to other sectors. For example through projects focused on the criminal justice system in Birmingham, on the arts sector in Newcastle, and on establishing young people as commissioners of public services. We are a not-for-profit organisation which means we do not and cannot generate a profit, we have no shareholders to consider and no dividends to pay out, this enables us to invest in our fantastic and life changing charity projects.
