Knowledge has a fundamental problem: proving its value often requires revealing it. Once disclosed, however, information can be copied, used or transferred without the transaction that was supposed to give it value. This is the problem described by Arrow’s Information Paradox — and AI is making it exponentially more relevant. WeCITE is building a protocol to prove knowledge without revealing it. The WeCITE Protocol is a patent-pending infrastructure designed to establish proof, provenance and authorship while keeping the underlying knowledge protected. This becomes particularly important as we move toward a machine economy. AI agents and autonomous systems will increasingly discover, generate, evaluate, exchange and recombine knowledge. For machines to participate in a knowledge economy, they need more than access to information. They need a way to determine what exists, who created or contributed to it, when it existed, what rights are attached to it, and whether a claim about that knowledge can be trusted — without requiring access to the knowledge itself. WeCITE aims to provide that trust layer. A protocol through which humans, organizations and machines can prove, attribute, protect and eventually transact knowledge while preserving control over the underlying information.
