Weather Pattern Press (WPP) is an independent, community-driven press dedicated to dismantling gatekeeping in publishing and amplifying voices historically excluded from mainstream literary spaces—especially QTPOC creators and queer elders. Our mission is to make publishing accessible, affordable, and inclusive by offering at-cost printing, a mailing library, and hands-on editorial support. Every book is made to order, centering collaboration and care over profit. Founded in San Francisco, WPP draws inspiration from the city’s microclimates as a metaphor for diversity and unpredictability, and from Storm of the X-Men as a reminder that change is always possible. We believe the process of publishing is as vital as the final product: a site of art, relationship, and empowerment. Our approach prioritizes mentorship, transparency, and mutual aid to help creators—especially those new to publishing—bring their visions to life. WPP has built visibility through SF Zine Fest, SFPL Hormel LGBTQ+ Center programming, and partnerships with community organizations like Bathers Library. We’ve launched projects such as Radicchio Salad Zine (a campy, queer food and culture publication), Sadwalks (a photo series celebrating the beauty of urban pedestrian life), and a raw poetry collection exploring mental health, love, and identity through the lens of bipolar disorder. Upcoming initiatives include anthologies with OpenHouse’s Golden Hour Writing Group and Ruth’s Table, honoring intergenerational queer storytelling. At WPP, patterns can shift—and so can the literary landscape. We envision a future that honors the past, with the radical invention of the printing press & political pamphlets, where publishing is not a privilege but a shared, communal act of resistance and joy.
