Formerly known as the Character Education Partnership, we have relentlessly advocated for character since 1993 -- because we believe character is at the core of who we are. Today, Character.org creates and shares resources that support people around the globe, including our 11 Principles Framework for Schools: A Guide to Cultivating a Culture of Character. Our vision is to serve as the hub for all things character by inspiring, recognizing, and celebrating thousands of people in schools and beyond who are champions for character.

We are best known for the VIA Survey, the world’s most widely used, peer-reviewed character strengths assessment, which has helped more than 35 million people worldwide discover their unique Character Strengths & Virtues profile. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Neal Mayerson and Dr. Martin Seligman and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, VIA brings rigorous research into real-world application for personal development, health, workplaces, coaching, and education in service of greater human flourishing. The Goldie Hawn Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 2003 in response to growing concern about the state of children's mental health. With leading researchers, neuroscientists and educators, the foundation created MindUP, a program and curriculum to train teachers and schools how to develop social emotional learning and support children's mental fitness. Since its inception, MindUP has trained hundreds of thousands of teachers and served millions of children across 48 countries.
