Wattle Range Council was formed on 1st July, 1997 following an amalgamation between the former District Councils of Beachport, Millicent and Penola. Situated mid way between the capital cities of Adelaide and Melbourne in the highly productive Limestone Coast region of South Australia, the Wattle Range region boasts a diverse economic base, including viticulture and wineries, horticultural production and processing, timber production and processing, pulp & paper manufacture, floriculture, fishing and aquaculture, livestock production and cropping & seed production and is the number 1 region in Australia for Net Primary Productivity. With a population of approximately 12,500 people, the Council stretches from the sea to the Victorian border. Located in the picturesque south east corner of South Australia, the area provides a unique and rewarding working/living lifestyle.. Council's Principal Office is located at George Street, Millicent.
