The Washington Urban Debate League, an affiliate of the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues, brings policy debate to underrepresented communities. A wealth of academic studies confirms the benefits of participation in policy debate, especially for students of color and other traditionally under-represented groups. Urban Debate programs seek to level the playing field and provide these benefits to all students. Policy Debate compliments to implementation of Common Core standards, with their focus on research and analytic skills for all students. We provide a robust tournament schedule, free of charge to public school students, (including breakfast and lunch). WUDL also provides debate expertise, professional development, and support to our teacher-coaches.
