The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) is a multilingual, multicultural, multi-issue, multifaith coalition and network of over 400 immigrant leaders, allies, and immigrant-serving organizations, that supports and builds power for immigrants and refugees across Washington State through direct services, education, organizing, policy, advocacy, and funding. The state of Washington is home to over 1,149,000 immigrants including 270,000 undocumented people, and is continuously in the top 10 states to welcome refugees. Many groups of, by, and for immigrants and refugees have been working around the state for decades. In the face of the proliferating threats to our communities, we came together in 2016 to form the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network in order to protect, serve, and strengthen immigrant communities across the state. Our strategy centers the voices of impacted communities while organizing, educating, and mobilizing people across the state to uphold and defend the rights and dignity of all immigrants and refugees. As a queer and transgender immigrant-led nonprofit, we are building a strong, connected, immigrant-led justice movement to dismantle oppressive systems and ensure a life of abundance for all immigrants. Today, we are the largest immigrant-led coalition in Washington, with more than 400 organizations in our statewide network. Since our founding in November 2016, we have provided support, built capacity, and amplified the voices of immigrant and refugee rights organizations, fostering a sense of strength and solidarity statewide. Join us as we continue to stand in solidarity and move towards building a future where all immigrants and refugees are valued, respected, and empowered.
