Hyperloop is a conceptual high-speed transportation system put forward by entrepreneur Elon Musk, incorporating partially evacuated tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors. The University of Washington's team competed in 2016, 2018, and 2019, with top speeds of 300mph. Since the cancellation of the Hyperloop pod competition during the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington Hyperloop has transitioned to designing and building an efficient and low-cost Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to compete in the Not-A-Boring competition hosted by The Boring Company, a subsidiary of SpaceX. Our team is based in Seattle and represents the Pacific Northwest as a leader in student engineering organizations. Follow our Battery, Structures, Cutter Head/Materials Removal, Design, and Business teams as we collaborate to develop our TBM!
