Ruby on Rails is an open-source framework that uses conventions to accelerate web application development. Rails eliminates the need to make dozens of configuration decisions at the start of a project, speeding-up development time by as much as 5x. Using the Ruby programming language, it's easy to customize and configure Rails applications when the time comes to make those decisions. Rails provides the power and flexibility of programming with an object-oriented language with the speed of an MVC framework. Why use agile? Correctly implemented, agile will allow you to plan properly and will remove the nasty surprises that so often come with software development. Funnily enough, this is one of the reasons that developers often struggle with agile. It turns software development in to a sustained effort, rather than a roller-coaster ride of dramatic though-the-night working and last minute bug fixes. Don’t get me wrong, it is still immensely rewarding for the developers. It is just that many developers do not like predictable coding, they like variety, surprises and irregular effort. Agile will raise quality. As releases are happening all the time, bugs get fixed quickly. Nothing highlights the quality of code better than a release to production.
