WAMMFest (Women And Minorities in Media Festival) Information

WAMM is made up of two parts that go together perfectly, like peanut butter and chocolate. The first part is an eclectic mix of the best (official selections and category winners) of our international call for short works. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn, and then you’ll laugh so much that you’re crying all while seeing (and hearing) stories told by the voice of the empowered. Every short work is by or interest to women and/or minorities, but can and will be enjoyed by anyone. Media makers are encouraged to attend the festival so there can be true interaction between audience and artist. The second part of WAMM is having one (or a couple of) guest artists. They are professionals who can serve as a role model for aspiring filmmakers or producers, accessible through a master class, Q&A session after their screening, and then the closing WAMM reception. Our guest artists run the gamut from their first big break in the industry to established award-winning artists in the prime of their career. They are there as mentor, inspiration, and proof that while the media production industry is not very diverse, there are success stories. And that takes us to our main goal, the reason that WAMM exists. We want to create more success stories, make a more diverse Hollywood, New York, or wherever media is created, and allow the stories of everybody to be told through their own voice.
