The Wama Diagnóstica, leader in the Rapid Tests market in Brazil, announces the coming months the launch of an ally in the diagnosis of Dengue, arbovirus transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti: the Imuno-Rápido Dengue NS1 (Rapid Test). The test that uses the immunochromatographic methodology can detect qualitatively the NS1 antigen with the purpose of early identification of patents infected with the Dengue virus. Due to the high morbidity and mortality, dengue is considered one of the most important viral diseases. Most cases occur in tropical and subtropical areas of the world, with epidemics occurring during or immediately after rainy periods. The World Health Organization estimates that 3 billion are in areas at risk of dengue worldwide. In Brazil, with the arrival of summer, a time when most infections occur, attention must be redoubled to dengue. The clinical symptoms are often confused with those of a flu, are characterized by sudden high fever (39°C to 40°C) followed by headache, myalgia , prostration , arthralgia, retro orbital pain, asthenia, anorexia, nausea, vomiting , rash and itchy skin. The most severe form of the disease, Dengue Haemorrhagic, occurs in 2-4% of reinfected individuals and can cause death. Dengue is caused by a Flavivirus belonging to the Flaviviridae family and has four known serotypes (DENV - 1 , DENV - 2 , DENV - 3 and DENV - 4). The virus has three structural proteins, membrane proteins (M), core (C) and envelope (E), and seven non-structural proteins: NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4a, NS4b and NS5 . NS1 is a common nonstructural glycoprotein of four serotypes that is essential for viral replication . During the acute phase of infection, NS1 is found circulating in the serum of patients in concentrations detectable by immunological methods, and is currently considered as a marker of infection by dengue virus even before the appearance of antibodies of the IgM and IgG classes, allowing early detection of the virus 24 hours after the beginning of the symptoms, and is found in the ...
