In 1993 Walkabout Landscape established a Texas homestead in the DFW metroplex. Applying the same design techniques and practical experience garnered in Australia, Mr. Makens has adapted this to work with our diverse Texas landscapes. The primary focus is to employ a natural based approach utilizing native plants in creating low maintenance and drought-tolerant landscapes. Mr. Makens has also utilized his language skills in travelling and studying landscape design in many parts of China, Japan, S.E. Asia, Latin America and portions of Europe. He resides in North Texas with his wife and young daughter.
