VTplus is a medical technology company developing and providing integrated virtual reality (VR) systems for therapeutic and research use in clinical settings. The company’s VR therapy systems are designed for use in inpatient and outpatient clinical practice as well as in scientific research environments. VTplus VR exposure systems are clinically applicable VR therapy solutions enabling individually controlled exposure and behavioural interventions. They are used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, addiction, and for training social skills and stress management. The systems include interactive VR-based exercises addressing conditions such as nicotine dependence, fear of heights, spider phobia, fear of flying, claustrophobia, and social anxiety, including public speaking and social interaction scenarios. In addition to therapeutic applications, VTplus provides VR research systems that support experimentally controlled data acquisition with high internal validity using virtual reality. The VTplus VR simulation software supports head-mounted displays as well as multi-channel projection systems and is used in controlled experimental and clinical research settings. VTplus was founded as a spin-off from the Chair of Psychology at the University of Würzburg. The interdisciplinary team combines expertise in psychology, psychotherapy, computer science, and media design and has long-standing experience in the application and evaluation of virtual reality technologies. VTplus supports research and development activities ranging from VR laboratory design to the implementation of applied research projects in psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, neurology, pharmacological efficacy research, and safety-related research contexts.
