The VRspies domain was founded by Christopher Gray (aka UKRifter) in January 2016 from a pre-existing and organically formed band of VR industry experts and personalities operating under the group pseudonym the "VR Bros"​. The VRspies organization is run as a cooperative, with ownership “shares” based on a calculated contribution of the core team members, in short – with no “owner” the team all are able to benefit from their efforts. Christopher Gray (aka UKRifter) has a management role & is key contributor to the technical operation of the site, however, there is no official "leader"​ of the group, the team operate as a collective, each bringing specific skills to the party. The main websites serves as a creative outlet for the core team members who are all contributing writers to a greater or lesser degree. The forum subdomain was opened in August 2016 and is one of the fasted growing & friendliest communities on the internet, the VRspies core team act as moderators and use the forum to help developers promote their projects, assisting with test and share industry best practices. The VRspies team operate a popular Virtual Reality themed Podcast which is managed by Don Hopper (aka VRGamerDude), it runs for approximately 2 hours at 9pm UK every Sunday. Additionally to the core team, the VRspies have contributing (non-owning) individuals known as agents, Agents are hand selected by the core team and provide articles to the site in exchange for raising their profile within the VR industry. The VRspies is currently a non-profit organization, however, would be open to high quality, on-topic advertising discussions.
