Since 2008, VOLIRIS has launched an ambitious program of Research and Development to develop an airship able to automatically transport containers. Today, the international multimodal freight transport relies primarily on the 40-feet containers. They can carry 30 tons of cargo and require heavy handling devices at the start and at the finish an need roads of acceptable quality between these points. In many countries, some areas lack roads with a satisfactory quality and safety; some even don't have roads (in Africa, Northern Canada, the US and Russia, inner deserts, developing countries devastated by natural events or conflicts). VOLIRIS relies on its know-how in airships and UAVs to develop the NATAC: an automatic air shuttle capable of performing automatic pendulum transport. Our research and development team designed a game-changing blimp envelope and created CFD software specific to hybrid airships. As a result, our NATAC shuttle uses 4 times less Helium to transport 30 tons, needs 4 time less power engine than an airplane, is easy to assemble and operate and will be 100% hydrogen compatible...
